Where It All Began

This is where it all began folks, my vision for this blog. March 2010. Okay, maybe vision is too strong. It was really just an idea I had when I walked in to eat in this setting...

...and saw the restroom like this:

As I'm looking back at these pictures I don't feel like I do the restroom justice, but in any case, finding a restroom this nice here was so unexpectedly pleasant that I had thought to myself, "It could be fun to go around documenting all the restrooms like this that I am forced to frequent." So I began this venture, and if you're reading this, then some of you are sufficiently amused to at least have initially clicked for the follow (including any of you who are more quietly peeking in from time to time). This place was the genesis of the Restroom Rater blog, here at Hires Big H on 400 North in Salt Lake City.

The facilities bore gracefully the weight of heavy traffic(the place is really popular!), and pulled off a GOOD rating.

In any case, here's to you Hires, and your unexpectedly nice restroom and food, which we all enjoyed thoroughly.

Cheesecake Factory

The food was pretty good, but for some reason I didn't try the cheesecake. If a place is named The Cheesecake Factory then it stands to reason that their cheesecake must be very good. So why didn't I try it?

In any case, there is one thing that I invariably try, and with a setting like this restaurant, the restrooms would need to be something.

They didn't disappoint.

This was my first time at the Cheesecake Factory. No way did I expect a setting like this, especially judging by the name. Cheesecake Factory...

But like I said, very nice. It combined aesthetic with good upkeep, so I give it a pristine rating. Plus their food ranges from pizzas and pastas to hamburgers and seafood. Something for everyone.

I just wish I'd tried the cheesecake.

On Bathroom Aesthetics and Impartiality

Since we tend to pay attention in general to our surroundings, in restrooms the details are all assimilated and translated into very generalized responses.

In other words, sometimes for as clean as a restroom may be, the aesthetics are just wrong and leave you feeling icky. I'll try to be as impartial as possible, but let's face it, a lot comes down to how I generally feel while there.

This will undoubtedly, inevitably show in my ratings.

Restroom Goals

Restrooms that I would like to rate, but will take some time to get there.

1. Angel's Landing - Scout Lookout (It is a strenuous, 2.5 mile hike to the top. Well worth it, probably nasty, but I'm not there yet in any case. :)

2. The Louvre - obviously great, it would have to be.
